    Union Joint Secretary Shashank Mishra conducted inspection in Bhopal. Explained the benefits of smart meters to the consumers, got the app installed. After the balance in the smart meter gets exhausted, there will be a chance of three days.

Whereas 35 thousand smart meters have been installed in various premises in Bhopal. Joint Secretary of the Union Energy Ministry, Shashank Mishra came to Bhopal on Sunday to inspect these smart meters.

    Along with explaining the benefits of smart meter to the consumers, they also got the mobile app installed. During this, the company’s Director (Commercial) Sudhir Kumar Srivastava, General Manager City BBS Parihar and officers and employees were present.

    The Union Joint Secretary inspected the functioning of the smart meters installed at the consumers’ premises in Danishkunj, Virasha Heights of the city and observed their functioning. Here he discussed with the consumers and told them the benefits of the meter and asked them to avail the facility by installing the app.

    He told that due to installation of smart meter, exemption from security fund, first recharge from already deposited security amount, discount of 25 paise per unit in domestic and non-domestic (commercial) bills as per the existing tariff, other related to energy charges. Charges (e.g. electricity duty, TOD surcharge, power factor surcharge) calculated at reduced electricity rate, rebate of zero to five per cent (minimum of Rs 5) of bill amount on each payment, no maximum limit on rebate in domestic category, Whereas in other categories the maximum limit of discount will be Rs 20.

    Three days’ chance after balance is exhausted

    He said that even after the balance in the smart meter is exhausted, it can be recharged for the next three days without disconnecting the connection. Consumers can get real-time information about load, electricity consumption, etc. every 15 minutes through an app in the consumer’s mobile. You will be able to easily get information about electricity charges, daily balance amount, meter reading errors, problems like power lines, distribution transformers, disruption in power supply etc. Moreover, in future there will be no need to buy new meter modem if solar roof top connection is taken.
