Tensions gripped Greater Noida’s Knowledge Park-3 after police arrested two long-wanted hostel wardens linked to the suicide of a promising BTech student. Sudhanshu Dubey alias Shekhar and Rohit Bhati fell into the net during a targeted operation at IIMT crossroads, thanks to vigilant local intelligence.
The case revolves around Udit Soni, a second-year BTech scholar from Jhansi, whose life ended abruptly in his hostel room between January 23 and 24. Relatives pointed fingers at mental cruelty inflicted by wardens, prompting swift police action. Earlier, Satyanarayan Pandey and Dharam Singh were collared, setting the stage for these final arrests.
Both men, aged about 35, lived and worked at the implicated Jade Boys Hostel—Sudhanshu hailing from Bihar’s Buxar district, Rohit from Dadri’s rural pockets. Preliminary probes paint a grim picture of sustained pressure that eroded Udit’s resilience.
Now in custody and headed to court, the accused confront serious charges. Senior officers reaffirm that student suicides demand rigorous accountability, promising enhanced monitoring of hostels. This incident spotlights systemic flaws in student welfare, calling for immediate interventions to foster supportive living conditions amid academic pressures.
