Second rank in the counry for creating employment against the target, employment of 8.85 crore generated in the first trimester
Till date, 55981 families provided 100-day employment, 41% of the total number of families getting 100-day employment in the country are in Chhattisgarh alone
66% of the target for generating employment in state achieved, more than 70% of works sanctioned under Labour Budget completed in 10 districts
Naxal-affected districts leading in achievement of the target, districts of Bastar Division secure place in the top-five
Excellent works are being continuously done in Chhattisgarh state under MNREGA. Chhattisgarh is the leading state in the nation for providing 100-day employment to MNREGA job-card holding families in the current financial year 2020-21. In the month of April, May and June, total 55 thousand 981 families were provided employment of 100 days. 41% of the total number of families getting 100-day employment in the country are from Chhattisgarh alone.
In current financial year, Chhattisgarh holds second rank in terms of creating employment against the target given for generating employment. 66% of the target for the year has been achieved within the first trimester. Meanwhile, employment of 8 crore 84 lakh 50 thousand human days has been created. Naxal-affected districts have performed commendably in providing employment to people in rural areas. Top five districts to provide maximum employment against the target in the state are of Bastar Division. 10 districts of the state have completed more than 70% of the works under sanctioned labour budget for the year.
Chief Minister Mr. Bhupesh Baghel and Panchayat and Rural Development Minister Mr. TS Singhdeo has congratulated Department officials-employees and panchayat representatives for their consistent excellent performance in implementation of MNREGA. They said that despite the lockdown due to Covid-19, works under MNREGA were started to provide direct employment to a large number of villagers. These MNREGA works have played an important role in supporting the rural economy under the adverse circumstances. They expressed hope that with dedication and awareness of panchayat representatives and MNREGA teams, we would continue to do excellent works under MNREGA.
The Government of India has approved labour budget of 13 crore 50 lakh man days for Chhattisgarh in the current financial year. In the first three months of the year, the state has achieved 66 percent target by creating 8 crore 84 lakh 50 thousand man days of employment. The national average of employment generation in the first quarter is 39 percent. Narayanpur district is at the forefront of providing employment against the target in the state. 84 percent of the target has been achieved there. Nine other districts of the state have also completed more than 70 percent work, which as follows- Sukma 78 percent, Bijapur 77 percent, Bastar 74 percent, Kondagaon and Raigarh 73 percent each, Kanker and Dantewada 72 percent each, Korba and Gariaband 71 percent each. The remaining 18 districts have also created more than 60 percent employment.
Commendable work has been done in the state in providing 100 days of employment under MNREGA to the needy families. The total number of families receiving 100 days of employment in the country is one lakh 37 thousand 365. Of these, 40.75 percent i.e. 55 thousand 981 families belong to Chhattisgarh alone. 100 days of employment has been provided to the maximum 6139 families in Kabirdham district in the state. So far this year, 100 days employment has been provided to 4410 families in Bilaspur, 3804 families in Rajnandgaon, 3261 families in Dhamtari, 3240 families in Balodabazar-Bhatapara, and 3037 families in Mungeli.
