Innovative effort of rearing lacquer by planting semialata plants under employment guarantee scheme
The women of Radha self-help group of Banauli, dependent village of Banskund, Gram Panchayat under Bhanupratappur development block of the district, have taken steps towards self-sufficiency by adopting lacquer farming. Through the Radha Women Self Help Group formed under the Rural Livelihoods Mission, Krishi Vigyan Kendra Kanker planted 4 thousand saplings of semialata in two acres of land under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme in the month of May 2018, for the production of lac Work has been started Bihan lakh was invested in planted semialata plants after one year in the month of July 2019, which yielded production of 2 quintals after six months, of which 01 quintal lac was sold for Rs. 35 thousand at the rate of Rs. 350 per kg. And the savings of 01 quintal lac was used as biha lac in the safflower tree in the month of January-February,
Thus, with the help of MGNREGA in the vacant government land of the village, the women of Radha Self Help Group of Banauli have once again successfully demonstrated the model of lac production throughout the year in the Semiyalata and Kusum tree once invested. Ambedkar University, New Delhi’s student and partner social service organization has also supported in this success. This achievement of the women of Radha self-help group will get relief from the problem of not getting on time in lakhs.
