Terror Attack at Nowgam: Terrorist attack in Srinagar’s Naugam area before August 15, 2 policemen martyred, 1 injured
Srinagar: Two policemen were killed in a terrorist attack on a police team in Naugam on the outskirts of Srinagar on Friday, a day before August 15 in Jammu and Kashmir. A policeman has been injured in the attack. The area has been cordoned off and the search operation is on. The militants attacked a police party stationed in security for Aug 15 in Naugam. There is a terrorist attack on Srinagar’s Naogaum bypass on Friday morning.
According to the Kashmir Zone Police, the militants opened fire on the police party at the barrier near the Naugam bypass. Three soldiers were injured in this attack who were admitted to the hospital for treatment where two soldiers died.
Search operation in progress
The terror in Kashmir is intensified due to the terrorist attack a day before 15 August. Earlier on Thursday, the search operation was started after the presence of militants in Shahidganj area of Srinagar.
It is being told that security forces have recovered 10 grenades, two detonators, two radio sets, three pistols and an assault rifle cartridge, besides Pakistani currency during a search operation in Dogi hill area of Baramulla.
Program in Srinagar on 15 August
Terrorist movement was seen in the area after which the police and army started the operation by encircling the whole area but there was no match with the terrorists. Conspiracy of major terrorist attack on Independence Day failed
It is to be known that the security forces have recovered huge amount of arms and ammunition from two underground terrorist hideouts in Avantipora on Thursday, thwarting the plot of major terrorist attack in Kashmir on Independence Day. Four to six people could live together in one hideout, while another was very small. The security forces recovered the weapons and destroyed both the targets.
SSP Avantipora Tahir Salim said that we had come to know about the terrorist plot to carry out a major crime in the Valley on Independence Day, especially in South Kashmir. On the basis of this, we started monitoring suspected people connected to the network of terrorists. Last night we caught two Overground Workers (OGW) from Tral. When he was questioned, he gave information about a Lashkar hideout in Barsu of Avantipora.
He told that terrorists are gathering with common equipment to carry out a major crime. After this, a campaign was carried out with the army. The terrorists’ hideout was found in an orchard with forest at the outer end of Barsu village. This place was built by digging the ground. Just a short distance away from this was another terrorist hideout. The terrorists had fled from these hideouts before the security forces arrived. A search operation is on to nab them.
Items recovered from terrorist bases :
The SSP reported that 1918 cartridges of assault rifle, two hand grenades, one UBGL thrower, four UBGL grenades, five gelatin sticks, two pipe bombs, half a kilo of ammonium nitred, used by terror commanders for mutual interaction during the search of terrorist targets Three sheets, ration, medicines, beds, gas stoves, cylinders and cash of Rs 5400 have also been received in the code language to be done.
Campaign in search of terrorists in Budgam :
The army and police conducted a search operation as soon as the news of three terrorists coming to any of their contacts in Tulsara area of Budgam district in the early hours. The security forces searched all the suspicious houses till noon, but the siege was lifted by security forces with no clue of the terrorists.
Taking cognizance of the conspiracy being hatched by the terrorists in Kashmir to carry out subversive activities on the occasion of Independence Day, the administration has tightened the security system. There is vigil in all the major cities and towns of the Valley including Srinagar. All the grounds of the Valley, including the Shere Kashmir Stadium, have been sealed by security forces where the main function of Independence Day is to be held. The security of all military camps, police stations and other important establishments has also been enhanced. CCTV is also being monitored to monitor mischievous elements.
