New Delhi: Traveling by train is going to be more expensive in the coming days. According to the exclusive news received by Zee Media, passengers may have to pay station user fees to catch trains from major railway stations. This step can be taken by the Railways on the lines of the user development fees of the airport. Let us tell you that UDF is charged separately from the passengers at the airport, which is currently Rs 281. Railways will also charge station user fees from passengers along with ticket booking, which will increase the ticket price.
When will the station user fees be charged?
According to sources, the railway ministry will also notify the station user fees by the end of this year i.e. by December 2020. But this will be implemented only when the private player will start making new and modern private railway stations under the redevelopment project. The stations which are being developed under the redevelopment project include Mumbai, Jaipur, Habibganj, Chandigarh, Nagpur, Bijwasan, Anand Vihar etc. In the coming time at these big stations, user development fees will be charged to catch the train from the station.
Private companies will earn
Actually, the government is making the stations modern and more comfortable for the passengers under the redevelopment project. These projects are being prepared under PPP. Where private companies will be invited through bidding process i.e. bidding and will be given the task of redemption. In return, these private companies will earn by building a commercial complex at stations and through station user fees. Let us tell you that the Railways has started the bidding process for Mumbai CST as well.
