In the positive trend of global markets, shares of financial companies rose sharply today, after the day’s trading, the stock market closed on Monday on the first trading day of the week. The Bombay Stock Exchange’s flagship index Sensex gained 0.95 per cent to close at 38788.08, up 364.36 points. On the other hand, the National Stock Exchange’s Nifty gained 0.83 per cent to 94.85 points, closing at 11466.45.
52-rupee rise in rupee against dollar;
Interbank foreign currency exchange market on Monday reversed trading trend in rupee and the rupee rose 52 paise against US currency by 74.32. Per dollar (temporary) closed. In addition, the weakening of the dollar against major global currencies also supported the rupee’s appreciation. The rupee opened weak at 74.91 in the interbank foreign exchange market. But later it strengthened and during the business it moved in the range of Rs 74.31 to Rs 74.91. It closed at 74.32 per dollar with a rise of 52 paise at the end of trading. Foreign investors bought shares worth a net Rs 410.16 crore on Friday, as per the stock market data. Meanwhile, global benchmark Brent crude rose 0.60 per cent to $ 45.20 per barrel.
It was
the case of heavyweights. Talking about heavyweights, today the shares of Zee Ltd, Kotak Bank, IndusInd Bank, Bajaj Finance, HDFC Bank, ICICI Bank, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Finserv, Maruti and SBI closed on the green mark. Shares of Power Grid, M&M, Adani Ports, Hindalco, Grasim, Tech Mahindra, Cipla, Titan, Nestle India and Hero MotoCorp closed at the red mark.
Monitoring of sectoral index
If we look at the sectoral index, today, apart from pharma, realty and IT, all sectors closed on the green mark. These include metals, media, banks, PSU banks, finance service, private banks, auto and FMCG.
