New Delh: Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has started construction of three corridors of the fourth phase of the metro, but the impact of the corona virus infection can be seen clearly. The reason for this is that currently the projects of the other three corridors have been put on hold and there is no possibility of getting approval till next year. Therefore, the Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) has also stopped repeatedly reminding the government to approve those projects and has focused all attention on the construction of the sanctioned three corridors. In such a situation, people of Delhi may have to wait longer for the Metro Light Corridor.
Managing director of DMRC, Mangu Singh said that due to Corona, it has directed the government that no new project will be approved for one year. However, the work of the corridors which have been approved earlier is going on fast. Now there is also no shortage of laborers. Up to 80 percent of the availability is available, so there will not be much delay in completion of construction of the approved corridor.
Actually, a total of six metro corridors are to be constructed in phase four, which will have a total length of 203.94 kilometers. The central government had last year approved the construction of three major corridors measuring 61.67 km. There will be 45 stations on these three corridors and 22.35 km underground and 39.32 km portion is being elevated. The work of the elevated portion of the three corridors has started. Last year, the central government did not get the approval of Lajpat Nagar-Saket, Rithala-Narela and Indralok-Indraprastha corridors. The total length of these three corridors is proposed to be 42.27 km.
It was believed that these three corridors would also be approved this year, but the Union Urban Development Ministry had suggested making a slight change in the project to replace the metro corridor between Rithala to Narela. Apart from this, a new corridor was suggested to be built between Dwarka Sector 21 to Kirti Nagar, after which DMRC prepared DPR based on these two suggestions and sent the government file for approval, but now according to the new order any new project Not to be started.
