The Chhattisgarh Handicrafts Development Board is realizing the dreams of artisans under the guidance of Village Industries Minister Guru Rudrakumar. Minister Guru Rudrakumar said that the Handicrafts Development Board is preparing a data base of 8000 artisans and linking them to employment oriented programs. He said that continuous efforts are being made to improve the rural economy of the state by connecting the artisans of rural areas with employment.
Director of Village Industries Shri Sudhakar Khalkho informed that the Chhattisgarh Handicrafts Development Board has sold crores of rupees worth of handicrafts in the last two years. He said that under the development plan, with the allocation of 88 lakh rupees by the board, 519 craftsmen were benefited, 171 handicrafts were provided with tools and 05 craftsmen were given grants for construction of the workshop. Shri Khalkho said that during this period of last two years, 1168 beneficiaries associated with various crafts were trained under the training grant scheme through all the centers of the board. He said that under the artisan design education scheme, the fees of 7 students have been paid so far and MoU has been signed with TRIFED to make handicrafts produced by forest dwellers reach the country and abroad and provide better market through Materials are made available online platforms.
