Chief minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan on Monday went on a surprise inspection of public welfare schemes in the state capital in a two-hour whirlwind tour.
His first stop was Lok Seva Kendra, where he interacted with people who had filed applications. Chouhan asked why Rs 5 was charged as fee for a simple receipt. “It should be reduced,” the CM told officials, and then asked collector Avinash Lavania to change the fee system.
He then went to Upper Lake to inspect a new sewage treatment plant, which is expected to be inaugurated on December 15. From there, he drove 22km to Transport Nagar, where houses under Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana are to be handed over. On the way back, Chouhan halted at Abbas Nagar and distributed free face masks.
The CM will visit cities and villages to review implementation of welfare and schemes. Bhopal was the first.
