Himachal Pradesh MP Dr. Gaurav Sharma, who was elected in New Zealand in parliamentary elections -2020, took oath in Sanskrit at the Parliament House in Wallington. In the swearing-in ceremony on 24 November, Gaurav has enhanced the pride of culture of India and Himachal by taking oath in Sanskrit language. Dr. Gaurav Sharma was born on 1 July 1987 in Sundernagar, Mandi.
However, Gaurav is originally from Hadeta village in district Hamirpur. Gaurav has studied in Hamirpur, Dharamshala, Shimla and New Zealand. Recently, Gaurav Sharma has won as an MP in the elections held in New Zealand. He had also contested elections earlier in 2017, but lost to Hamilton.
Dr. Gaurav Sharma has registered a landslide victory on the Labor Party ticket on the Hamilton seat. He got 15873 votes, while his opponent got 11487 votes. Gaurav Sharma also participated extensively in student politics in New Zealand. However this is his second election in Mainstream Politics. But during his studies he was also a representative of student organizations in the University Senate. Apart from this, he was also selected for membership of Medical Association and Refugee Council.
Gaurav’s father was an excise in the state electricity department. He took voluntary retirement and moved to New Zealand. He got a job there after six years of long struggle. During this time, apart from taking part in social work, he lived in a taxi. His mother also took part in community service. This gave him a lot of recognition here.
