Former chief minister and BJP leader Raghubar Das on Monday criticised the Hemant Soren government for discontinuing the work done by his earlier administration for the empowerment of women in Jharkhand.
Speaking at a function of the BJP’s SC wing (Baridih Mandal) in Jamshedpur, Das claimed that work done for women empowerment was at its peak during his administration and he had taken up a unique step under which women can register a property in their name for just Re 1.
“It was, however, revoked by the current coalition government,” he rued. Das added that his government had also taken up several steps for the education of girl children in the state.
Speaking on the occasion, party spokesperson Kunal Sarangi said due acknowledgement should be given to the SC community women who play a vital role in the cleaning of the city and the hospitals.
Later, both Das and Sarangi along with other senior leaders visited areas under the Jamshedpur East assembly constituency and reviewed the living standards there.
Notably, Das had won from this assembly seat thrice in a row but he was defeated by independent candidate and his former ministerial colleague Saryu Rai. Das is now trying to reclaim his lost ground.
