The playoffs will also continue on Monday after two extra holes in the playoffs were tied for the title on Sunday in the Jeev Milkha Invitational Golf Tournament with a prize money of Rs 1.5 crore between star golfer Anirban Lahiri and Chandigarh’s Karandeep Kochhar.
The third edition of the tournament at Chandigarh Golf Club went on to compete for the title in the playoffs once again like the previous two tournaments. The playoffs between East Asia number one Lahiri (70-68-70-69) and local star Kochhar (76-66-67-68) had to be halted on Sunday due to poor lighting. The third extra hole of the playoffs will be played at 9 am on Monday. The total score of both in four rounds was equal to 11 under 277.
After the scheduled four rounds, Kochhar faced a one-stroke penalty. He unfortunately shook the ball lying in the rough at the 17th hole which led to his double bogey count. Kochhar then had to make it to the playoffs with Lahiri. Kochhar started the day with sixth place and Lahiri with joint third place.
The title in two playoff holes could not be decided and due to deteriorating light, the playoffs were decided to continue on Monday. This will be the first time in the history of PGTI that the title will be decided on an extra day on the third playoff hole. Manu Gandas of Gurugram and Aman Raj of Patna got a joint third place with a score of 10-under 278 while Akshay Sharma of Chandigarh, who led in the first three rounds, finished joint fifth with a score of eight-under 280.
