UPA constituents along with other non-NDA parties in Jharkhand staged a series of protests across Ranchi and other parts of the state since 8 am on Tuesday to enforce Bharat Bandh, called by farmers bodies against the new farm laws of the Union government, demanding their rollback.
In Ranchi, buses plied in lesser numbers from dawn and so did autos till 11am. Shops and business establishments gave mixed response as those at Main Road remained shut even after 10.30 am. However, places like Jharkhandand Morabadi remained unaffected.
At the railway station, many were found turning up since Monday night to catch a few Bihar bound trains in the evening. “We came in the night itself to avoid hassles during day to catch train to Sasaram,” said a passenger.
