Subscribers to the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation ( ESIC ) will be able to undergo treatment at any hospital in the emergency, whether it is empaneled or non-empaneled. This decision is a big relief for the subscribers who are at risk of emergency. Before this decision, subscribers had to go to an ESIC dispensary or hospital. Prior referral was required to go to a private hospital.
Trade union co-ordination committee (TUCC) general secretary SP Tiwari said – In cases like heart attack, one has to be admitted to the hospital immediately. In such a situation, it was difficult to go to ESIC dispensary or hospital and get referral, because there was no time for this. Keeping this in mind, a decision has been taken to eliminate such referral in the board meeting. After this, the employees of the State Insurance Corporation will be able to go to any of the empaneled or non-empaneled private hospitals in the Emergency.
The difference in getting treatment in both these types of hospitals will be that the treatment in the empaneled hospitals will be cash-less. At the same time, treatment in non-empaneled hospitals will get reimbursement at the Central Government Health Services rate. Treatment can be done in a non-empaneled hospital only when there is no ESIC or an empaneled hospital around 10 km around the subscribers.
