In the middle of the farmers’ protest, India is celebrating Chaudhary Charan Singh’s Jayanti and farmers day.
Even after several rounds of talks with the government, farmers have been protesting on different borders of the national capital since November 26 against the three newly enacted farm laws-Farmers’ Produce Trade and Commerce (Promotion and Facilitation) Act, 2020, the Farmers (Empowerment and Protection) Agreement on Price Assurance and Farm Services Act, 2020, and the Essential Commodities (Amendment) Act, 2020
On the occasion of the birth anniversary of former Prime Minister of India Chaudhary Charan Singh, Defence Minister Rajnath Singh took to Twitter and said that Prime Minister Narendra Modi is inspired by former PM Chaudhary Charan Singh and will not let farmers get hurt.
He said, “I remember and salute Chaudhary Charan Singhji, former Prime Minister and a pioneer among the most respected farmer leaders of the country, on the occasion of his birth anniversary. Chaudhary Saheb continued to voice the problems of farmers for a lifetime and worked for their welfare. The country will always remember his contribution. Chaudhary Charan Singh wanted that the income of farmers of the country should increase, their crops should get remunerative prices and the honor of farmers should be protected. With his inspiration, our prime minister Narendra Modi has taken many steps in the interest of farmers. He will not let the farmers get hurt in any case.”
