The Directorate of Revenue Intelligence (DRI) has seized over 1.5 kg of hashish, price over Rs 3 crore, and arrested 5 individuals in Chhattisgarh, an official stated on Wednesday.
A truck from Andhra Pradesh carrying the contraband was intercepted close to capital Raipur on the intervening night time of Sunday and Monday, when it was heading to Maharashtra, it stated.
“On the idea of particular intelligence, officers of the DRI’s Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh models intercepted the truck with Andhra Pradesh registration quantity close to Raipur,
The truck was carrying 1,534 kg of ganja (hashish), valued at Rs 3.07 crore, which was hid below natural fertilisers,” a launch issued by the DRI said.
“The truck was coming from Araku Valley of Andhra Pradesh and was being escorted by a pilot car. The consignment was being taken to Rahta in Maharashtra,” it stated.
At least 5 members of the cartel have been arrested and additional investigation is underway, it was said.
In the present monetary 12 months (2020-21), the DRI’s Indore zonal unit has to this point seized 5,842 kg of hashish and arrested 21 individuals, whereas within the earlier fiscal (2019-20), 5,672 kg of the contraband was seized with 16 arrests, the discharge said.
