In a letter to Civil Aviation Minister Hardeep Singh Puri, Thackeray mentioned that the Cabinet has authorized altering the title of Aurangabad airport after Chhatrapati Sambhaji Maharaj. The Centre ought to now subject a notification to alter the title of the airport accordingly, the letter acknowledged.

“If any proposal about renaming Aurangabad as Sambhajinagar comes up, the Congress will oppose it strongly. Our party does not believe in changing names as it does not lead to development of common man,” mentioned Maharashtra Congress chief and Revenue Minister Balasaheb Thorat mentioned earlier this week.
The Shiv Sena, nevertheless, sought to minimize Congress’ opposition and mentioned that the social gathering’s stance over the difficulty was not new.
