The Goa police on Wednesday submitted a supplementary report, which names ten extra witnesses it desires to look at within the trial of former Tehelka journal editor Tarun Tejpal, to the District and Additional Sessions courtroom making an attempt the case.
Tejpal is dealing with trial in a November 2013 case wherein a lady had accused him of sexually assaulting her inside a carry at a five-star resort in Goa throughout an occasion. Tejpal, who was arrested on November 30, 2013, is now on bail and has denied the allegations.
The police’s 19-page supplementary report comes six years after the chargesheet was filed. According to the supplementary report, the witnesses have mentioned that the purple cease/reset button within the elevators of the resort, used for stopping the elevator in movement, was deactivated after the incident within the resort elevator in 2013.
The trial courtroom had framed fees towards Tejpal below IPC sections 341 (wrongful restraint); 342 (wrongful confinement); 354 (assault or legal pressure with intent to outrage modesty); 354A (sexual harassment); 354B (assault or use of legal pressure to girl with intent to disrobe); 376 (2)(f) (individual in place of authority over girls, committing rape) and 376(2)(ok) (rape by individual in place of management).
Goa police had cited 155 witnesses in its 2014 chargesheet.
