Chennithala alleges bid to regularise Left-leaning contract workers at Chalachitra Academy

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Leader of the Opposition Ramesh Chennithala informed the Kerala Assembly on Tuesday that Chalachitra Academy chairman Kamal had written a letter to Culture Minister A Okay Balan looking for regularisation of 4 contract workers within the establishment on the premise of their allegiance in the direction of the ruling Left.

According to Chennithala, Kamal mentioned within the letter that regularising the posts of Deputy Director – Festival, Programme Manager – Manager, Deputy Director – Programmes and Programme Manager – Programmes can be helpful to the LDF authorities and the Academy.

Quoting Kamal’s letter, Chennithala mentioned the Chalachitra Academy chairman additionally wrote that regularising these 4 workers would assist in retaining the Leftist character of the establishment.  

Chennithala cited Kamal’s letter after the Opposition’s demand for an adjournment movement to debate backdoor appointments and large-scale regularisation of contract workers was turned down within the Assembly.

Meanwhile, Chief Minister Pinararyi Vijayan defended Balan by quoting the Minister’s response to Kamal’s letter. Pinarayi mentioned Balan had reminded Kamal that the facets talked about in his letter weren’t the yardstick for regularisation of contract workers. The Chief Minister mentioned the workers haven’t been regularised until date.
