Panaji (Goa): Vice President Venkaiah Naidu early on Wednesday celebrated Bhogi along with his household at Raj Bhawan in Goa.
Bhogi marks the start of the four-day Pongal competition.
“Bhogi is the festival of change. Derelict articles and negative ideas are discarded and new energy is welcomed into people’s homes. It is symbolised by lighting a bonfire or Bhogi Mantalu,” the official Twitter deal with of the Vice President tweeted.

On the event, Naidu, who was seen performing all rituals associated to Bhogi, together with circling across the bon fireplace alongside along with his spouse, prayed for everybody’s happiness, good well being and prosperity.

Bhogi, largely celebrated within the states of Tamil Nadu, Andhra Pradesh, and Telangana, is a part of the Pongal competition by which ineffective family articles are put in a bonfire.
Pongal is noticed to mark the tip of the winter and the start of the harvest season.
