Telecom operators have knowledgeable subscribers that they would want to prefix ‘0’ for making calls from landline to cellphones from January 15, in step with the telecom division’s current directive.
“As per DoT’s directive, effective 15-Jan-21, it is mandatory to prefix 0 before the mobile number while dialling from your landline,” Airtel has began informing its mounted line customers.
Reliance Jio, too, has despatched messages to mounted line customers urging them to make sure that they prefix 0 when dialling any cell quantity from a hard and fast line quantity.

“This change in dialling pattern effective Jan 15 is in accordance to the directive from DoT,” Jio’s message stated.
The Department of Telecom (DoT) had stated in November that callers should dial numbers with prefix ‘0’ for making calls from landline to cell phone, from January 15.
The Communications Ministry had stated the transfer would liberate adequate numbering sources for future use, and practically 2,539 million numbering sequence are anticipated to be generated consequently.
There can be no change with respect to dialling numbers for fixed-to mounted, mobile-to-fixed, and mobile-to-mobile calls, it had stated.

When contacted, BSNL Chairman and Managing Director P Ok Purwar stated that the required communication for person consciousness would have been initiated, in sync with the directive.
“There is a stipulated process by which we communicate to customers, which would have been done,” Purwar added.
