YouTube has briefly suspended the account of United States President Donald Trump, stopping all video uploads by the channel for the subsequent seven days, amid considerations over “ongoing potential for violence”. The transfer follows Twitter and Facebook’s everlasting suspension of Trump’s accounts.
“After careful review, and in light of concerns about the ongoing potential for violence, we removed new content uploaded to the Donald J. Trump channel and issued a strike for violating our policies for inciting violence,” YouTube mentioned in a press release.
“As a result, in accordance with our long-standing strikes system, the channel is now prevented from uploading new videos or live streams for a minimum of seven days — which may be extended,” it mentioned.
“We are also indefinitely disabling comments under videos on the channel, we’ve taken similar actions in the past for other cases involving safety concerns,” the platform mentioned.
Trump’s YouTube channel has 2.68 million subscribers.
Following the violence that erupted on the US Capitol after Trump’s supporters stormed the constructing on January 6, YouTube eliminated a lot of the movies from his rally earlier within the day.
