Bhubaneswar: Hitting again at Odisha Government for accusing Centre of not lifting the excess parboiled rice from State, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) of Odisha unit on Tuesday mentioned that State authorities appears to be extra frightened for the millers than the farmers.
“A farmer usually sells paddy, but not rice. Millers get good margin in the production of parboiled rice rather than white rice. The parboiled rice gives 7% more production than the white rice. Moreover, Millers also get more profit by producing edible oil from the parboiled paddy husk”, BJP State common secretary Lekhasree Samant Singhar mentioned at a press meet.
The Food Corporation of India (FCI) has given its consent to take 50% parboiled rice and urged the State to offer as a lot as white rice, she added.
Parboiled rice is consumed solely in Odisha and a few components of northern India. But, different components of the State want white rice, she mentioned including that BJD is politicising the matter by hiding these points.
The BJP’s response got here a day after the regional celebration on Monday slammed the Centre for refusing to elevate surplus parboiled rice from Odisha.
The BJD mentioned by way of an announcement that the Centre not too long ago despatched a letter stating that it will restrict the lifting of parboiled rice to the extent of fifty% of the unique estimates and wouldn’t settle for any surplus Parboiled rice throughout Rabi season 2020-21.
