Filmmaker Shyam Benegal’s Bangabandhu, a biopic on Bangladesh’s founder Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, started capturing in Mumbai on Thursday.
The movie is collectively produced by India and Bangladesh and is a part of the centenary celebration of Rahman, the primary President of Bangladesh.
Bangabandhu was introduced by Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting Prakash Javadekar throughout the opening ceremony of the 51st International Film Festival of India (IFFI), right here.
The Muhurat shoot of the biopic was held on the Film City, following the COVID-19 protocols laid down by the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, a press launch issued by the Press Information Bureau mentioned.
Bangladeshi movie and TV actor Arifin Shuvoo shall be essaying the function of Rahman. Nusrat Imrose Tisha will painting the function of Rahman’s spouse, Sheikh Fazilatunnesa, whereas actor Nusraat Faria shall be seen as his daughter Sheikh Hasina.
Writers Atul Tiwari and Shama Zaidi have penned the screenplay, with composer Shantanu Moitra hooked up to present the music.
The movie is being produced beneath the Audio Visual Co Production Agreement between India and Bangladesh.
The MoU for manufacturing of the movie was signed in January, final yr, between the National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) and Bangladesh Film Development Corporation (BFDC).
Shooting of the movie was earlier scheduled to begin in March final yr in Bangladesh. Due to the continued coronavirus pandemic, the primary section of filming will now happen for about 100 days at Film City. The second section of capturing shall be held in Bangladesh.
