UN chief hopes tensions alongside India-China border could possibly be dialled down via dialogue

Amid a latest conflict between Indian and Chinese troops alongside the border in Sikkim, UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres hopes that tensions that exist between the 2 international locations could possibly be dialled down via dialogue, a spokesperson for the UN chief has stated.
Indian and Chinese troops have been concerned in a conflict within the high-altitude Naku La area in North Sikkim on January 20, an incident described by the Indian Army on Monday as a “minor face-off”.
In an announcement, the Indian Army stated the face-off was resolved by native commanders as per established protocols.
“Only to say that we hope that, through dialogue, the tensions that may exist along the border could be dialled down,” Stephane Dujarric, Spokesman for the UN Secretary-General, stated on the day by day press briefing on Monday.

Dujarric was responding to a query on whether or not the UN Secretariat or the Secretary General has any touch upon the “renewed India-China border clashes”.
