Baripada: Tension erupted at Pandit Raghunath Murmu Medical College and Hospital in Baripada after college students of the school locked the primary gate and sat on dharna in entrance of the Dean’s workplace demanding success of their calls for.
As per stories, the second yr college students of the comparatively new medical school within the northern-Odisha city of Baripada have been complaining of poor infrastructure and sanitation within the school campus since lengthy. As per their allegations, even the essential facilities like pure ingesting water weren’t offered to them.
A pupil alleged, “When we first came to the hostel, we were promised of mattresses, but it has been 18 months and we are yet to get them.”
“We have three beds in each room, but the authorities are forcing us to accommodate four students, making it impossible for us to study,” he added.
Another pupil stated, “We do not have sufficient water purifiers in our hostel. And as far as toilets are concerned, they are far from being clean. The sweeper comes once in a month making it unhygienic for us to use.”
The college students additional alleged that they’re being threatened to fail within the examination if they don’t name of the strike without delay.
Agitated college students moved the District Collector on Thursday to submit their grievance and later met the Dean to debate their issues. However, they determined to take a seat on dharna after no headway was made on the Dean’s workplace.
The college students stated that they may name of the strike solely after a written assurance from the school authorities.
Comments of the school authorities couldn’t be obtained on the matter.
