While nobody was injured within the blast which was reportedly triggered by an Improvised Explosive Device (IED), glasses of a number of automobiles had been shattered as a result of explosion. The IED was present in a flower pot on highway divider on the Abdul Kalam Road. Initial investigations recommend that the explosive system could have been thrown from a working automobile.
