The Supreme Court will not use WhatsApp teams to share video convention hyperlinks for court docket hearings, the apex court docket registry stated on Saturday. In a round, the registry stated that as a substitute of WhatsApp, the hyperlinks for digital court docket hearings within the apex court docket will likely be shared on registered e mail ids and registered cell numbers of the involved advocates-on-record and party-in-person.
The step was taken within the wake of the newly notified Information Technology (Guidelines for intermediaries and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021 (IT Rules, 2021).
“It is notified for the data of the Advocates-on-Record /Party-in-Persons that the creation of teams in WhatsApp for sharing of VC hyperlinks for listening to of their issues is restricted/barred resulting from new tips or rules issued by authorities of India pertaining to social media Apps and OTT platforms, it stated.
It stated the VC hyperlinks shall be shared “w.e.f. March 1, 2021 by means of registered e mail ids in addition to by SMS on registered cell numbers of the Ld. Advocates-on-Record / Party-in-Persons”.
