Samajwadi Party MP Jaya Bachchan on Tuesday mentioned that the continued observe of guide scavenging is a humiliation for the nation and the Centre wants to handle this challenge and reply to it.
Highlighting the degraded plight of guide scavengers in Rajya Sabha, Bachchan mentioned, “Why have we not done away with manual scavenging yet and not been able to provide protector gears to them when we talk about progress in other areas.”
Appealing to the Centre to supply a response on their points, Bachchan mentioned, “You do Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, this is a part of Swachh Bharat.” Bachan additionally requested Railway Minister Piyush Goyal to handle the difficulty of railways using guide scavengers.
Bachachan emphasised on the necessity to present scavengers “dignity and rehabilitation” and punish the “contractors who do not provide them with proper gears.”
