LOS ANGELES: Oscar winner Natalie Portman is ready to headline “The Days of Abandonment”, an upcoming film from HBO Films.
The mission, which is at the moment in pre-production, is an adaptation of Italian writer Elena Ferrante’s 2005 best-selling novel of the identical title, reported Variety.
Portman, 39, will star as Tess, a lady who abandons her personal goals for steady house life, is in flip deserted by her husband.
To be written and directed by Maggie Betts, the film will delve into the thoughts of a lady in disaster, who “confronts the norms of motherhood and female identity as Tess traverses the darkest reaches of her own psyche”.
Portman, who received an Oscar for her efficiency in 2010 psychological drama “Black Swan”, may also function govt producer alongside Betts, Ferrante, Sophie Mas, Celine Rattray, Trudie Styler, Len Amato, Domenico Procacci and Maria Zuckerman.
HBO Films will produce the film in collaboration with Medusa.
