Government extends validity of motorcar paperwork until September 30

The authorities on Thursday prolonged the validity of motorcar paperwork like driving licence (DL), registration certificates (RC) and permits until September 30, 2021, in view of the continued COVID-19 pandemic.
The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) stated it has suggested the enforcement authorities that the validity of health, allow (all kinds), licence, registration or another involved doc(s) could also be handled to be legitimate until September 30, 2021.
“This covers all documents whose validity has expired since Feb 1, 2020, or would expire by September 30, 2021. This will help out citizens in availing transport related services, while maintaining social distancing,” it stated.

The ministry’s advisory stated all of the states and union territories are requested to implement this advisory in letter and spirit in order that residents, transporters and numerous different organisation, that are working underneath this tough time, might not get harassed and face difficulties.

It had earlier issued advisories dated March 30, 2020, June 9, 2020, August 24, 2020, December 27, 2020 and March 26, 2021 in reference to extension of validity of paperwork associated to the Motor Vehicles Act, 1988, and Central Motor Vehicle Rules, 1989.
