Islamic State militants on Monday claimed accountability for an in a single day assault on Sunday on a guard put up close to town of Kirkuk that police sources mentioned killed 10 Iraqi policemen and wounded 4.
Islamic State, whose militants are energetic within the space, claimed accountability for the assault by way of its Amaq News Agency on Telegram.
The sources mentioned the attackers clashed for 2 hours with police stationed at a village within the city of Rashad, 30 km (18 miles) southwest of Kirkuk.
Militants used roadside bombs to stop police reinforcements from reaching the put up, destroying three police automobiles, the sources mentioned.
Separately, no less than three Iraqi troopers had been killed and one was wounded on Sunday when gunmen attacked a military checkpoint southeast of the Iraqi metropolis of Mosul, safety sources mentioned.
