The authorities has exempted customs responsibility on COVID-19 vaccines for 3 months until December 31, which is able to enhance home availability and make them cheaper.
In a notification dated September 29, the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC) mentioned the exemption would come into pressure on October 1, 2021, and stay in pressure as much as December 31, 2021.
Earlier in April, the federal government had exempted primary customs responsibility on the import of COVID vaccines for 3 months. Following the conclusion of the three-month interval, COVID-19 vaccines import attracted 10 per cent responsibility.
The exemption from import responsibility would assist preserve low the price of abroad vaccines which might be being eyed to complement domestically made photographs of Covishield and Covaxin.
Currently, India imports Russia made Sputnik V vaccine.
India has granted Emergency Use Approval to 5 vaccines – Serum Institute’s Covishield, Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin, Russia’s Sputnik V, Moderna and Johnson & Johnson.
