The Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday accepted the production-linked incentive (PLI) scheme for semiconductors. Rs 76,000 crore will probably be spent on this scheme in 6 years, Information and Broadcasting (I&B) minister Minister Anurag Thakur knowledgeable.
Briefing the media on the important thing choices taken by the Cabinet, Thakur mentioned that this scheme will promote the manufacturing of semiconductor and show boards within the nation.
Elaborating on the scheme, Telecom and Information Technology (IT) minister Ashwini Vaishnaw knowledgeable that this scheme will assist design, fabrication, packing and testing of the microchips and develop a whole ecosystem.
Apart from this scheme, the I&B minister mentioned that the Cabinet accepted reimbursement of Rs 1,300 crore on digital transactions utilizing UPI and Rupay debit playing cards.
“A scheme has been approved to provide incentives to encourage digital transactions through RuPay debit card and BHIM UPI of small amounts. It will incur an expense of around Rs 1,300 crore,” Thakur mentioned.
