CHANDIGARH: International Kabaddi participant Sandeep Nangal was shot useless on Monday night by 4 assailants in Punjab’s Jalandhar district, police stated.
The incident befell when a Kabaddi match was in play at Mallian Kalan village of Shahkot.
Jalandhar (Rural) Deputy Superintendent of Police (Nakodar) Lakhwinder Singh stated the 40-year-old participant hailed from Nangal Ambiyan village right here in Shahkot.
But he, alongside together with his household, was settled in England. Sandeep used to organise Kabaddi tournaments right here. Police stated when Sandeep got here out of the match website, 4 unidentified assailants opened hearth on him. Police suspect eight to 10 bullets have been pumped into the Kabaddi participant.
The Deputy Superintendent of Police stated 10 empty bullet shells have been discovered from the spot.
After Sandeep was shot, he was taken to a hospital in Nakodar the place he was declared useless, stated police. A video of the firing incident additionally went viral on social media. Police stated additional investigation was underway.
