PATNA: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar was on Sunday assaulted by an unidentified individual close to Patna, in an incident that has despatched shock waves throughout Bihar.
Officials had been tight-lipped concerning the incident although extremely positioned sources mentioned it passed off in Bakhtiyarpur the place Kumar was assembly his outdated associates.
The chief minister, who has spent his early childhood in Bakhtiyarpur, was paying floral tributes to the statue of a freedom fighter from the world.
CCTV footage reveals the assailant, in his late 20s or early 30s, coming from behind and touchdown a blow on the septuagenarian’s face.
Clad in a T-shirt and trousers, the assailant is quickly overpowered by the chief minister’s safety employees who shortly hand him over to the police.
Another footage reveals the alleged assailant being dragged away by the policemen who mutter below their breath “paagal hai” (he’s loopy).
The identification of the attacker, who is known to have been taken to a police station, was not recognized instantly.
