CHANDIGARH: Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann on Friday moved a decision within the state Assembly looking for fast switch of Chandigarh to Punjab. In the previous, the House has handed various resolutions urging the Central authorities to switch Chandigarh to Punjab, he stated.
“For maintaining harmony and taking the sentiments of people into account, this House once again recommends to the state government to raise the matter with Central government to immediately transfer Chandigarh to Punjab,” in accordance with the decision moved by CM Mann within the House.
The one-day particular Assembly session comes days after Union Home Minister Amit Shah’s announcement that the central service guidelines will apply to staff of the Union Territory of Chandigarh. Chandigarh is the joint capital of Punjab and Haryana.
Earlier, after the session started, Congress MLA Rana Gurjeet Singh and his son Rana Inder Pratap Singh, who’s an Independent legislator, had been administered oath of workplace.
