Auto gross sales, i.e. despatches from factories to sellers, throughout classes declined by 6 per cent at 17.5 million items in FY22, trade physique Society of Indian Automobile Manufacturers (SIAM) mentioned on Wednesday.
During the 12 months, two-wheeler gross sales fell 11 per cent — lowest within the final 10 years — to 1.34 million items, whereas passenger automobiles (PVs), business automobiles (CVs) and three-wheelers noticed a development in comparison with the low base of FY21.
PV gross sales, regardless of a development of 13 per cent in FY22, had been beneath 2017-18 and 2018-19 ranges. Barring FY21, three-wheeler gross sales had been the
lowest in 19 years, SIAM mentioned. Similarly, CV gross sales in FY22 had been the bottom in 5 years, barring FY21.
In March, home PV gross sales decreased almost 4 per cent to 2,79,501 items on a year-on-year foundation. Two-wheeler gross sales fell 21 per cent to 11,84,210 items, and inside it, motorbike gross sales by 21 per cent to 7,86,479 items.
