The stage of ethanol mixing in petrol in India has reached 9.99 per cent, Petroleum Minister Hardeep Singh Puri stated on Monday. India had targetted 10 per cent ethanol mixing in petrol by the top of 2022 and 20 per cent mixing by 2030. The Centre has additionally targetted 5 per cent mixing of biodiesel with diesel by 2030.
The ethanol mixing programme is aimed toward lowering the nation’s dependence on crude oil imports, slicing carbon emissions and boosting farmers’ incomes. The Centre has additionally introduced a further obligation of Rs 2 per litre on unblended fuels beginning October to incentivise mixing.
“9.99% ethanol blending in petrol achieved by our OMCs (Oil Marketing Companies) today, much ahead of the year end target,” Puri tweeted on Monday, including that India was on target to realize 20 per cent mixing by 2025-2026.
