A Bangladeshi couple was sentenced to dying by a tribunal on Wednesday for promoting a 17-year-old woman to a brothel in India, based on media studies.
The incident befell in Khulna district.
In its verdict, the Khulna Women and Children Repression Prevention Tribunal pronounced capital punishment for the couple — recognized as Shahin Sheikh and Asma Begum — for promoting {the teenager} to the brothel in India, Bangladeshi information company UNB reported.

According to the prosecution, the convicts took the woman to India with the promise of arranging an excellent job and offered her there to a brothel on October 19, 2009, the Dhaka Tribune newspaper reported.
However, the studies didn’t point out the situation of the brothel.
As the woman’s household did not hint her, they logged a normal diary towards the couple on the native police station. Later, Shahin demanded Tk 20,000 (approx USD 230) from {the teenager}’s household to get her again.
The woman’s mom lodged a grievance towards the couple at Khanjahan Ali police station, and on January 20, 2010, the investigating officer of the case submitted a cost sheet towards the duo.
