BHAWANIPATNA: Paddy procurement for rabi season kicked off in Kalahandi district on Friday. The course of was initiated at paddy buying centres of Jaipatna and Kalampur on the day. Sources say 17,349 farmers have registered and verification is completed. The paddy can be procured via 54 main agriculture cooperative societies (PACS) and 17 girls self-help teams in 101 paddy buying centres (PPC). The goal is to finish the procurement inside 20 days to at least one month interval.
Initial goal is to acquire 10.96 lakh quintal paddy within the district as towards 23.07 lakh quintal within the earlier season. This is as a result of rabi irrigation was diminished from 53,554 ha to 18,680 ha as a consequence of restore of Indravati proper canal and low water degree within the reservoir. District civil provides officer Pabitra Kumar Sahu mentioned RMC officers have been directed to supply ingesting water, resting shed and tarpolines/ polythene sheets to the PPCs to assist farmers.
