SRINAGAR: Two terrorists had been killed in an encounter on June 19 with safety forces in Jammu and Kashmir’s Kupwara district, whereas one other gunfight was underway in Kulgam district, police stated.
They stated whereas one of many terrorists killed within the Kupwara encounter was a Pakistani affiliated with the proscribed Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT), the identification of the second was being ascertained.
Police stated the encounter in Kupwara began after the forces launched an operation in Lolab space of north Kashmir on the occasion of an arrested terrorist, Showket Ahmed Sheikh.
During the search of the hideouts, the hiding terrorists fired upon the drive personnel who retaliated, by which one terrorist was killed, the Kashmir Zone Police stated on Twitter. “The arrested terrorist also got trapped,” the police stated.
Inspector-General of Police Vijay Kumar stated the killed terrorist has been recognized as a Pakistani, linked with the LeT terror outfit. The IGP Kashmir tweeted, “2-3 more #terrorists along with arrested terrorist trapped in ongoing #encounter.”
Encounter in Kulgam underway
Another encounter is underway in Damhal Hanji Pora space of Kulgam in south Kashmir, the police stated. They stated the change of fireside was occurring however there have been no stories of any casualty on both facet up to now.
