West Indies assured after successful Test sequence versus England: Head coach Phil Simmons

West Indies head coach Phil Simmons mentioned that the workforce is rather more assured about expressing themselves since successful the Test sequence towards England.

West Indies defeated England 1-0 within the three-Test match sequence in March this 12 months to clinch the maiden RichardsBotham Trophy. The trophy changed the Wisden Trophy, which was retired after the 2020 sequence between the 2 sides.

“It’s just that guys are getting confidence in what they are doing,” Simmons was quoted as saying.

“The more confidence they get, the easier it is to do your job and perform your role for the team. There’s a lot of confidence after winning the series against England not too long ago so confidence is there and it shows.”

Following the sequence defeat, England Test captain Joe Root stepped down from the position. The England and Wales Cricket Board appointed Ben Stokes as Root’s successor.

Meanwhile, Kraigg Brathwaite-led West Indies went from power to power. West Indies wrapped up the primary Test towards Bangladesh on Day 4, successful by seven wickets at North Sound.

Kemar Roach picked up seven wickets, together with a five-wicket haul, and Brathwaite was the second highest run-scorer with 95 runs within the first Test.

West Indies will tackle Bangladesh within the second Test at Gros Islet from June 24.
