Lucknow: The schedule of by-elections has been declared on the 2 vacant seats within the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council (UP MLC). The dates for the election course of for these seats have been introduced by the Election Commission. The course of will start on July 25 and polling shall be held on August 11.
State Chief Electoral Officer Ajay Kumar Shukla stated in an announcement issued right here on Monday that the Election Commission of India has determined to carry by-elections to fill two vacant seats within the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Council. He stated that efforts can be made to finish the election course of earlier than August 16.
According to the assertion, Ahmed Hassan, a member of the Legislative Council, died on February 20. His time period was until 30 January 2027. Apart from this, Thakur Jaiveer Singh had resigned from the membership on March 24 final. His time period was until May 5, 2024. Because of this, each the seats are vacant, on which by-elections are to be held.
The Chief Electoral Officer stated that the notification of nomination shall be issued on July 25, 2022 for the by-elections on the vacant seats of the Legislative Council and August 1 is the final date for nominations. Scrutiny of nomination papers shall be performed on August 2, names may be withdrawn until August 4. On August 11, polling shall be held from 9 am to 4 pm and counting of votes will begin from 5 pm on August 11.
