BHUBANESWAR: The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on Friday arrested the chief mechanical engineer of Paradip Port Trust (PPT) and three others, together with a senior government of a stevedoring agency, in an alleged bribery scandal.
Chief Mechanical Engineer of Paradip Port Trust, Saroj Kumar Das has been accused of regularly demanding bribes by means of his conduit, Sumanta Rout, to increase advantages to non-public stakeholders engaged in providers and actions in Paradip Port.

During searches on the residence of the chief mechanical engineer, CBI recovered Rs 20.25 lakh, jewelry, papers associated to investments and different incriminating paperwork from the spot.
The CBI officers carried out searches on the property of the accused in 15 areas together with Paradip, Cuttack, Jagatsinghpur and Bhubaneswar. They seized Rs 41 lakh from the premises of OSL director Mishra.
CBI has registered a case on this regard towards chief mechanical engineer Das, Rout, Mitra, Mishra, DGM (operations) of Stevedores Surya Narayan Sahoo and Debapriya Mohanty of KCT Group.
The company has additionally booked Orissa Stevedores Limited and different unknown people in reference to the case.
Sources stated CBI officers questioned the managing director of OSL Mahimananda Mishra, his son and director Charchit had been interrogated on Thursday.
