Singapore will decriminalise intercourse between males, the prime minister mentioned on Sunday, including that society within the city-state was turning into extra accepting of homosexual individuals.
But he added the federal government had no intention of fixing the city-state’s authorized definition of marriage – that’s, between a person and a girl.
“I believe this is the right thing to do, and something that most Singaporeans will now accept,” Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong mentioned within the annual nationwide day rally speech, including the federal government will repeal Section 377A of the penal code, a colonial-era regulation that criminalises intercourse between males.
“Even as we repeal Section 377A, we will uphold and safeguard the institution of marriage… Under the law, only marriages between one man and one woman are recognised in Singapore,” Lee added.
