“At the moment it is happening predominantly in Leicester. There are other cities that are being targeted, like Nottingham and Birmingham. I have relatives staying in a lot of cities. I have had messages from all of them that there are spots within other cities as well. So, scared is a bit of an understatement. If your house was under attack when somebody’s going to knock your door down and people are walking around on the streets, shouting Allah-hu-Akbar, you would be petrified. Anybody would be petrified,” Solanki stated.
“The reporting, I think, has been extremely unfair, to be honest, so far. It has been very anti-Hindu, if I can say that. The reports have been portraying as if the Hindus are the ones that are attacking. I am on the ground. I have seen it with my own eyes. I have been going around, giving support to the community for the past two-three days, the reporting is completely anti-Hindu and it is not a fair representation at all,” she added when requested if the media has been truthful of their protection of the violence within the UK metropolis.
TEMPLE VANDALISED
A Hindu temple was vandalised and a saffron flag outdoors it was pulled down by unidentified folks in East Leicester, triggering riots and violence within the UK metropolis. The Leicestershire Police has initiated an investigation after a video of the incident surfaced on-line.
In the video, a person, wearing black, is seen climbing atop a temple and flattening a saffron flag, amid hooting and cheering by a bunch of individuals.
“We are aware of a video circulating showing a man pulling down a flag outside a religious building on Melton Road. This appears to have taken place while officers were dealing with nearby public disorder. We do not tolerate violence or disorder and are investigating the incident,” Leicestershire Police stated, taking cognisance of the matter.
The vandalism incident passed off as communal tensions flared between Hindu and Muslim teams following an India-Pakistan Asia Cup match final month.
So far, the police have arrested 15 folks, together with one for violent dysfunction and one for possession of a bladed weapon.
