PARADIP: Irked over scarcity of academics, college students of Government Upper Primary School at Biswali in Kujang block staged a dharna and locked the establishment’s principal gate on Thursday.
Sources stated, research on the college, which has courses from I to VII have been hampered for the final six months attributable to scarcity of academics. The college has 275 college students on its rolls and solely 5 academics together with the headmistress who doesn’t take courses.
This aside, college students of courses I to III are made to sit down in a single room. Similarly, college students of courses IV and V examine in a single classroom. Sarpanch of Biswali gram panchayat Manorama Malla stated research on the college have been severely hampered attributable to scarcity of academics. “I had apprised the district education officer and block education officer of the matter but in vain,” she stated.
The college’s headmistress Sanjukta Tarai stated three extra academics are required to be posted on the college. “I had urged the higher authorities to look into the matter but nothing has yet been done in this regard,” she stated.
In-charge block training officer of Kujang Bimala Sethy stated the agitating college students referred to as off their dharna after they had been assured that their calls for can be fulfilled quickly.
