Left-handed batter Devdutt Padikkal was overjoyed after he scored his third T20 century towards Maharashtra on Tuesday, October 11 within the ongoing version of the Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 trophy.
At the PCA Stadium in Mohali, Padikkal scored an unbeaten 62-ball 124 whereas opening the batting for Karnataka with the assistance of 14 fours and 6 sixes.
On the again of his knock, Karnataka posted 215 for 2 on the board, after which they beat Maharashtra by 99 runs. After the match, Padikkal credited the Rajasthan Royals (RR) for serving to him study the artwork of batting within the middle-overs.
“Initially, it was tough for me to get going. I knew the wicket was pretty good and the outfield was fast. I wanted to ensure that I batted time on this pitch and play out the first six overs and then take it from there. I knew I could make up later on, given the conditions,” Padikkal was quoted as saying to Sportstar.
“Over the last couple of years, batting in the middle overs is one part of my game that I have been trying to improve. I am really happy with how it’s going. Even in the IPL, playing in the middle-overs and the middle-order for Rajasthan really helped me focus and work on that. Hopefully, I can keep improving on that,” he acknowledged.
Padikkal scored solely 4 runs off the primary 10 balls earlier than teeing off. In his final 52 balls, the southpaw smashed 120 balls.
